Junior Leadership Team
At Leasowes Primary School, we believe that every child should have a voice. This ensures that all children have their right to article 12 - respect of the views of the child - met. Each year a Junior Leadership Team (JLT) is formed through a rigorous application and interview process. Our JLT includes our four Head Ambassadors (Two Head Ambassadors and two Deputy Ambassadors from Year 6), four representatives from Year 5, two from Year 4 and two from Year 3.
The JLT commit their time to meet during lunch time or after school to discuss matters relating to the whole school and work alongside their classes and year groups as well as the Senior Leadership Team to make positive change across the school.
Each year the JLT collaborate to complete a specific project that has a lasting impact. Over the last two years, the JLT have made some fantastic achievements:
Academic Year 2020/21- Supported the School's achievement of the Rights Respecting School Silver award.
Academic Year 2021/22- Facilitated the development of our amazing classroom libraries, auditing the existing provision and strategically planning the book corners in each classroom.
Academic Year 2023/24- Supported the School's journey to achieving the Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award. They organised the World Children's Day and Leasowes Fundraising Day which both contributed greatly to this achievement.
Academic Year 2024/25- Creation of wellbeing garden project on the school site.
Alongside their project, JLT also act as role models for Leasowes, performing various tasks and taking on additional responsibilities. Most recently, every member of JLT performed a reading at the KS2 Carol Concerts, standing before two groups of Lower and Upper KS2 parents and reading extracts and poems from the Nativity story brilliantly.
