Eco Leaders

  

As a Green Flag Award school, our Eco Leaders have a very important role in helping us to be as Eco-friendly as we can; as our Charter says, we want to protect today to preserve tomorrow. Responsibilities include:

*attending meetings to share ideas and work collaboratively

*reporting back to classes

*awarding points and certificates to the best eco classes each week

*collecting recycled paper and card each day

*helping to look after our school grounds

*finding out how we can be more environmentally sustainable as a school

* being role models for peers and adults around them

Environmental Sustainability 

All educational settings are now required to have an Environmental Sustainability Policy and as part of that, the Eco Leaders will have their own responsibilities to set targets for the school and to promote a litter-free environment as well as promoting energy-saving initiatives across school e.g. turning off lights and computer screens when not in use. Both pupils and staff will be thinking more about the environment and how our actions impact upon our local surroundings, as well as the global environment. This links to being a Rights Respecting School and Article 29, Aims of Education, reminds us that children’s education should help them live peacefully and protect the environment.
